Avondale High School 1948-1953

Coach Ronald M. Bradley was graduated from Avondale High School in 1953.

While at Avondale he was an outstanding athlete in all three major sports. He was named to the All-Region All Star Basketball teams in 1950, 1951, 1952, and 1953, and was also named to the All-time DeKalb County All Star Basketball and Baseball Teams.

His senior year in high school he was leading scorer on the football team, leading scorer on the basketball team, and leading hitter on the baseball team, which helped him to be voted "Most Athletic" by his classmates.

While at Avondale, Coach Bradley played on the last 6-Man State Championship Football team in 1949, State Class A Runner-Up Basketball Team in 1953 and a State Championship Baseball Team in 1952.

In 1952 and 1953 he was chosen to play in the Greater-Atlanta All Star Baseball game, and in 1953 was chosen to play in the North-South Baseball game and the North-South Basketball game.

He played baseball and basketball for Coach Lyman Howard. His football coach, the legendary Calvin Ramsey joined Coach Bradley in the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.

Note: Ronald's senior year he tried out for the school play. He had one line, "There's enough TNT down there to blow up the whole state". During the play he said, "There's enough dynamite down there to blow up the whole state". He realized then that the athletic path was the one to follow.....
